...our birthday man and little lady

The other day on my previous post I added a little video of my husband for it was his birthday last Saturday (Aug 30). We didn't really celebrate for he has to do some work in the afternoon of his birthday... but after that we went to eat dinner at Dave and Buster. The food wasn't so bad... it was decent. We were going to go to our favorite restaurant Logans in Lewisville but it was quite a drive and our next choice was Cheescake Factory but it was crowded. So we ended up at Dave and Buster. While we were waiting for our food, we got into talking about Fentraphen. It's new weight loss supplement in the market. We have been walking the past month and he is showing some improvement on his weight program, it's really showing in his face now.

I took some pictures and here you can see my little one and hubby goofing around. These two bonded really well for my husband took a week's off and now he is the favorite parent. Yup! Used to she was mommy's little girl, now she is daddy's little girl. But I am actually glad that they bonded really good, they don't get a lot of time together so it was nice because our daughter gets to spend more time with her dad.

I also mentioned about not knowing what to get him for a present, but after we ate dinner we went to Gap and I bought him a shirt and the pants that I chose didn't quite work out so we just got the shirt.

And this afternoon, we went to see a the "Mummy Movie" the one where Jet Lee is the mummy... it was pretty good. It was our first time to watch a movie in a longggg time.. since I gave birth anyway... which was 2 years ago. We always ends up just watching the movie on DVD because we cannot find somebody to watch our little one but my sister didn't work today so she watch little Isabella while mommy and daddy watch a movie.. Actually my sister said that it was Sam (my niece) who watch her because they were playing all the time that we were gone. My daughter just love her "Ate"( Big sister) Sam. It was nice because we had some "us" time. :)

Which reminds me that I have to do a lot of reading but here I am blogging... but let me start with some of the awards that was given to me.

This one is called "Awesome Site Award" and was given to me by In Depth. Thank you very much Rowena for this wonderful award. She is indeed right about finding time to blog... well sometimes I cannot find the time anymore. Hopefully i'll get more time when school is on vacation again which is about 4 months from now.

Those were the awards that I remember was given to me, if you you gave me an award and I forgot to add it here, do let me know by leaving some comments.

Now, lets go to some tags. I received a few interesting one so I am adding them here:

The Many Faces of My Man

While we are in the topic of birthday celebration, I just found this site where you can create your own little video of memories. And the timing is really good because it's his birthday tomorrow. So I created a little video with a couple of his pictures and I called it "The Many Faces of My Man!".

I am going to send him this one later so he can check on it tomorrow or maybe even later when he check his email. Hopefully he will check his e-mail tomorrow. I just want to showcase about how incredible this man is. He has so many faces that he has to put on but at the end of the day he is my man and a wonderful father.

If you want to create a compilation of photos to share it to your loves ones, friends and just to organize your photos, Roxio online is a good place to start with. You can customized the effects and you can even add background music to it.

Will let you know if he likes it, maybe he will leave a little comment here.

Gift????

Tomorrow is hubby's birthday and I still don't have any idea what to get him. Well, I ask him a while back what he wants for his birthday and he said something about wanting to have a DVD of some movie. I cannot even remember the movie...lol.. I know that was bad...

Usually I gave him clothing, but I haven't had any time to shop lately. I am a little overwhelmed by school stuff, blogging and I have a couple of blog designs that I have to finish. But the good thing about my husband is that he doesn't mind if you don't get him anything. I mean he would be happy of whatever that you give him, that's what he said.

But I think I may get him a small cake tomorrow. We are not really into cakes so a small one will do. And I may stop by over to get him some gift after I get out of school.

Do you have any idea of a gift? Share some here.. ;)

Anything can be trade in for Cash

I have been seeing some pawnshops here and there and the first time I went into one was a couple of months ago. It was my husband's idea, he was looking for some stuff that we can use for his little shop in the garage. And I looked at him with an eyebrow tilting up because from what I know a pawnshop only takes jewelry and some items like phone, camera, etc. Boy! I was wrong. They will take anything that you want to pawn and as long as they can resale it later on.

Well same thing with your jewelry, if you have a lot of jewelry and there are those that you don't use anymore what you can do is to trade them or get cash out of it.

Trade your Gold for fast cash by Gold and Stone Exchange. How it works is that you first request for a FREE Gold Exchange Kit by filling out the form that they have on their website, the kit will arrive a couple of days later and just follow the steps given on the kit. Once they have your jewelry they will evaluate it based on the weight, quality and the current market price. Once it's done, they will send you a check for the recycle value of your jewelry less a 6% processing fee.

I been telling my husband that I have some jewelries that I am not using anymore and I want to trade it for cash but will have to see. I think I have to do some more convincing on that part. But if I get some cash out of it, I will probably use it to get me a laptop.

Text for Toy Safety

As a mom you probably know a thing about comparing-shopping. But with product safety and toxic toys making headlines, it's tough to determine what's safe and what may be dangerous for your family. Because you need to fact fast, a website called MomsRising.org will answer all your questions via text message for more than 1,200 toys tested.

While browsing the aisles for (yet another gift) present, simply text "healthytoys" followed by a toy name, retailer or manufacturer to 41411. Momentarily, you'll receive feedback for your selection. A search for Elmo Flashlight, for example returned the warning "chemical level detected." So you shopping won't be slowed down, and you can give gifts with confidence.

Back to School Shopping Sale

School started last August 25, 2008 in most schools in Texas, that includes my school. Yes! you read it right I am back in school trying to finish another degree aside from the one that I have already. And going back to school when you already have a family is a bit tough compare to when I was a full time student. Back then I don't worry about the things that I will be using because my parents will provide for me, but now I have to plan for all the expenses. That's why whenever there is a sale for things school related and I will be needing it, then it's definitely a good one.

Heavenly Couture specializes in women discount clothing. What they do is look for the highest quality clothing and sell them to the public for up to 85% cheaper. Ain't that something? I can buy a jeans for less than $20.00. For a limited time they are offering a 10% back to school shopping.

And since they are offering such a low price on women's clothing and accessories, I decided to do a little shopping. For $50.00 I have a complete outfit, check it out.

It comes with a top, pants and the boots. Yes! The boots is actually the cheapest among the 3, it is only $13.80. If I were you I am going to head out there now to look for the cheapest clothing that you can buy. I have to look for some more outfit later on. I have to get some new clothes for this coming fall and winter.

Stop for a while and have a good Laugh

Well Olympics is done and China got most of the golds, although the US has more medals compare to them. I hope everybody had the chance to see their favorite events, I missed quiet a few like the synchronize swimming. I have always been a big fan of synchronize swimming. I think it's just unbelievable and amazing for those swimmers to be able to do those techniques while swimming and I bet a lot of practice was done.

Then there's gymnastics, the ever controversial one. If you have been following the news about the China's gymnastic team you are probably familiar with it, but if you are not, then the issue is about the age of one of the gymnast being too young.. about 14 years old, the gymnast has to be at least 16 I believe.

While we are in the topic of gymnastic and since my title is supposed to have a good laugh... one of our friend sent us this video of a gymnast... well.. not so gymnast but he can bust some moves...

Bingo Anyone?

Did you play bingo when you were a kid? What about now?

I did when I was a kid and even when I got older mostly for fun and when we don't have anything to do. I remember we used to just improvised by making a bingo cards out of cardboard and writing the numbers on it. Then using little stones to mark the numbers that was called out, in this way we can re use the card again. Our house was close to the lake so we can just gather little stones from the lake.

I used to play it with my cousins when I was younger. And when I got older I played it with friends. Every summer when I was in college we usually go on a community immersion for 6-7 weeks and we only go home during weekend, sometimes we don't even go home for 2 straight weeks and there are times that we get bored because there is nothing to do, so we played bingo. We usually make bets like who ever loses will do the dishes or the cook for the day or night.

And I am hoping that when my daughter is old enough to understand and play the Disney Bingo that we have bought she will enjoy and have fun as much as I did. Creating good memories that she can share with her kids later on. And if you have kids that loves this game check out Amazon.com for great deals.

We are Up and Running..

Yup my computer is up and running again. Finally! Wow! That was a lot of headache... good thing my husband is on vacation. We were supposed to go somewhere for this week but when my husband requested for a vacation he forgot to take into consideration that school starts this week. But it's alright though, we get to hang out more and the little one and daddy get's to spend a lot of quality time together.

Another good thing that is he was able to finally finish formatting and installing all the software that we need on our main computer. And by the way, did I mention that is it is quite fast now. I don't have all that files on my drive C anymore, it's save on another data drive. So I have more disk space on the current drive now.

To all my taggers, please be patient for I am a little busy this week. School has started so I have a lot of readings to do plus I have a few designs to finish for my client. I will be doing the tags this coming weekend.

I will be posting a few information about what we (more of the hubby actually) did to fix our computer on my techie blog. It might happen to anyone so I want to share some insights on that. And if you want to read my previous post about what happen to my computer, you can check it here..

For those who keep visiting me or had visited me this past few days that my computer was down.. thank you very much.. I sure do appreciate you all.

Looking for a Webhost?

If you are looking for a good webhost you need to do a bit of a research to find out what they offer. You particularly want a company that offers good technical support aside from the features that you are looking for. Got to have that technical support whenever you cannot figure out something.

WebHostingRating is a site where you can read reviews about webhosting companies. They are an independent company so you can be sure that they are not biased on their review. The company list the top 10 best webhost together with the cost, space, traffic and a web hosting rating. The rating is based basically on affordability, reliability, uptime and technical support.

You can also find articles that pertains to webhosting, online business, ecommerce and tips on choosing a good domain. So if you are ready to move your site to your own domain, check them out and read their review about the company that you want to use to host your site.

My Computer Got Infected

I feel like I have been away for a long time online. The reason: my main computer got infected with some spyware and who knows what else I got there. So now I can't use my main computer and I am using my husband's laptop (thank goodness he has a laptop, although it's really dragging right now because we loaded WinXP on it.. yeah I know.. what are we thinking.)

And I think I got the spyware on one of those blogs that I visited when I was dropping EC plus I also updated my browser (Firefox) so that may have change my security settings as well, then I re-downloaded IE. It's the first time that I used the drop inbox of EC to see the people who dropped EC on my techie blog and I think I got it from one of the site. I usually just drop whenever I browse and read blogs. So right now, I can open one browser window at a time, if I open two, I can still browse but more than 2 I am really pushing it.

Our main computer right now is pretty much just a hardware, I can still use it but since it has the spyware and probably some trojans I don't want to take chances. I posted some information about it on my other blog and will post more entry about it later on once my computer is fix. So far we have used Ad-aware and Spyboot Seek and Destroy to try to remove the spyware but we have no luck.

So we just decided to wipe out the hard drive and reinstall the Operating System and the software that we need. I know, lot's of work. We were going to do that yesterday but since I have a lot of graphics, photos and files that I need to save we have to wait until we move it to another disk drive. So we got us another drive(clapping!!) to store our files. That's the good part of this one though we got us a 320 Gig. Lot and lots of storage.

For those who tagged me, I won't be able to grab them for a while, but I will later in the week. That's a promised. And for the announcement of the Lil Hoot contest, I will be posting it later this week also.

But just a heads up, be careful when your dropping your EC. And make sure to check your Internet settings and AntiVirus Software to make sure you are protected.

Internet Business

Just recently we decided to stop doing our online business due to the fact that we cannot manage it anymore. Both me and my husband are going to school and then I started my designing business and he is trying to start his car stereo business as well. And not to mention we have our little one who needs a lot of quality time plus a house to manage.

But I have been thinking lately that maybe I can still squeeze our kitchen ceramics business since I am online and on the computer most of the time anyway. I have been looking for some options specially for the payment processing part. I don't want to just use Paypal for they charge a lot of fee. One option that I found is Merchant Focus which uses authorize.net for the online payments. I think i have them from my previos OsCommerce software. It was offered and I just have to get an account from them.

I read from their website that the set up is free and they only charge 2.19% Mastercard and Visa rate plus the 25 cents per transaction. I think that wasn't too expensive. This might also be a good option for my sister, she was wanting to start an online business too.

Is the price of gas really going down?

I have noticed that for the past week the gas prices here in our area has been going down. And I am not saying it is good because it is actually great to see it coming down. But it also makes me wonder, are these gas company up to something?

The last few months that had passed the only direction of the gas prices was going up. It almost reached $4.00 for the price of regular unleaded but now the direction is the other way. So far the cheapest price I saw was $3.29, if it continues with this trend we might even see the gas price at $2 again. It's scary to think that me and my husband was actually happy to see it at $3.29 (at least it wasn't $4 right!). Hopefully I can get more value for my money and would help a little bit specially that there's a lot of things that you have to pay in order to own a vehicle, like the car insurance and the maintenance.

I remember when I was driving my little Toyota Corolla, I used to fill up my tank at $20. If I don't have enough money I can get half a tank for $10, but those were the old days. Now I can't even get a quarter of a tank for $20.

Hopefully it will continue to drop.. I don't want to jinx it though.

Time Passes By So Quickly...

Indeed, time passes by so fast. I feels like it was just last week when I gave birth to my daughter and now she turning 2 years old next month. So many memories, cute moments and not so good moments too. But I have never imagined that life would be this amazing because we had this wonderful chance to nurture and shower her with love.

I remember those nights when she won't go to sleep unless I hold her. The time that I cried after I gave birth because I was so overwhelmed and I just keep thinking how am I going to take care of my child. What about the first time that she had a fever of 101 and my husband panic and we went straight to the ER. Watching the nurse trying to draw blood with her tiny little arm. That was the most awful one so far. And then there are those times that she would just puke all the milk that she just drank and after doing it, she acts like nothing had happen.

There's also the first time leaving her on the crib to sleep. It felt like our bed was empty because there's no baby in the middle. I remember the words of my husband when I told him that we are going to start putting our daughter on her crib so she can have more room to sleep plus we can also sleep much better. His words were "Do we have to? Maybe we can wait a couple more months". Was that supposed to be my line?

And now she is becoming so independent and sometimes she would just say words that makes us think, "Was that really my daughter who just said such words." It's amazing how fast she can learn and catch up with the words now a days. I almost flip the other day when she said "I'm fine mommy" and she is not even 2 yet. I don't know where she got those words.

I can go on all day listing all the things that she can do and say but my whole blog is not enough to brag about my little angel. I guess I am just one of those sentimental and proud parent and I am sure that every parent is proud of their kids.

"Jet Setter"

When I first arrived here in the US my sister used to call me Jet-setter. She said that I can't stay in one place long enough to get to know it. But I told her that I have to maximize my time of stay and see the places that I want to see. And that's what I did, see the places that I want to see.

My first stop was Georgia. Went there to visit a friend and stayed there for a week. And since it was only a short visit we used Atlanta tours to be able to visit most of the tourist spot. One of the place that we went to was the Coca cola plant and during our tour, I spotted an area dedicated to the Philippines, well not exactly the country but the Jeep, a public transportation vehicle that are well known as made in the Phillippines. And I thought that was kinda funny because he was so into taking pictures of the scenic view that they made about the Philippines.

After my trip to Atlanta, I went to Los Angeles to visit another good friend. This time I stayed with her family and in laws. That was a little bit different because this time the places that we go to are more geared towards kids because she just had a baby that time. But every time we are together they always ask us if we are sisters, which I thought was funny because we don't even look similar to each other. We just look at each other and grin.

And after that long vacation I was still planning of visiting Cypress Gardens Florida but I started working so the traveling has to stop. Well just for a while though.

I think the Florida vacation should be our next plan. I have seen some good deal being offered by Trusted Tours & Attractions as far as discounted tickets to different sightseeing in Florida so that's a good start there. Right now they have a promotion for a chance to win a $150 Magellan’s Gift Certificate if you sign up for the Trusted Travels eNewsletter. If you want to win this one, hurry up for this offer ends August 31st, 2008.

Now this following blogger that I want to present this is more of like A Million Dollar Blogger for I haven't really met them in person, mostly just chatted with them online, but their blog has been a place for me to visit and I get inspired everytime I drop by.

In no particular order:

Juliana of Pinaywahm for I like the way she presented her post and how it looks so easy to come up with a topic to put on her blog.

Dette of Mammadawg for she come's up with post that are just plain hilarious. I think whatever she post will be something that will tickle your funny bone.

Ruby of Pinaymommy for she is an amazing blogger. I don't know how she can managed all her blogs, the forum and 2 kids.

Eds of My Precious Niche - whenever I wanted to read something pinoy in taste I always go to her blog, no pretense just pure Filipino taste.

Liza of Mommy's Litte Corner - she is the first blogger that actually had given me some insights about my blog when nobody had share information. I also admire how she had made her presence in the blogging world.

Claire of Claire In Love- this lady her is the only exception for I know her personally. We used to work at the same place back in the Philippines until I resigned and went here in the US. She is one of the amazing person that I want to give this million dollar friend. Fun and very vibrant lady.

I have a couple more blogger that I want to mention but it will probably take me all day to do that.
