Wintery White Thursday

What a lovely day to wake up in the morning and you see the outside of the house all white. Oh wait! All white?! Oh my goodness, what have we here.... I look outside the window and the field behind our house is all white... from snow flurry. I checked the front side and you can see the snow flurries even on the trees. And it looks cold outside.

My husband was in his way out to go to school and he has to scrape the windshield and side window of the van. We haven't done that in a while. I think today is the first time that he actually has to scrape the ice.

I wish there will be more snow. I love seeing the snow plus my daughter will get the chance to play outside in the snow if there's more. It will be her first time. Last year there were some drizzle but she was too young to even remember it. But this time she is 2 so I am sure she will enjoy it. Hopefully will get more but the sun is already out as I am writing this one so there might now have any more snow. Oh well, it's a thought. Maybe later in the afternoon.

Don't you just love the snow? Well, I do.

Where in a sticky and freezing situation

Last week we went to the Asian store to do our grocery shopping. We usually buy our meat in the Asian store since we can't get the type of meat that we want from other stores and we usually saves up more compare to going to the other grocery stores.. even Walmart. However, instead of spending around 50-60 bucks we end up paying more than $70. The reason for that is we were out of rice so we got us a 20 lbs of rice.

So our grocery shopping ends just fine and dandy. When we got home and I starting opening the bag of rice that we just bought, I noticed that it has a different appearance. It was a different type of rice. It's the sticky rice. The kind of rice that is being used for special occasions only. My, my, my... I didn't noticed it when we were buying it. So now we are stuck with the stickiest rice ever. If I am not going to cook it, what are we going to do with it. So for the whole month of February, hopefully less than a month we are going to be eating the stickiest rice ever. I mean it's not like its a bad thing. Its just that, its a little weird.

Speaking of changes, it's been cold here lately and today it is icy and sleek outside. What can I say, it's only in Texas that you get to experience different weather conditions in one week. I mean the weather changes in a blink of an eye. And today, we were mostly inside the house since it's very dangerous to drive. And if you have something to do and you can wait until the next day, I'd day wait for the next day.

On the side note, I was browsing online today and found this retail franchises. Well basically, if you are planning of venturing out to the franchise business then this area is really good. Last month I inquire about how much it is to Franchise a Fudruckers and if the place that I was targeting is still open. But unfortunately, the location that I am looking for is available anymore. Somebody already had contracted and franchise one for that location. Oh well. It was a great location.

Old Ties, New Ties

I was going through some of our stuff this afternoon trying to sort out old clothes and those that we are not using anymore. Our closet is so small that we just don't have enough room for everything. And since there are a lot of clothes that are not being used anymore, to just get rid of it and donate it. Instead of cluttering the closet we can have more room for some other stuff. As I go through the rest of the clothing that were on the tub, I found some of my husband's silk ties. Well what do you know, he actually have those ties that are weird looking and not being used. Well, maybe I can get rid of those too.

Now that he is wearing something dressy for work he actually need to use tie. But the tie that he is using right now were all provided by the company so really there is no use for the old ties. Beside he has those new ones that I got him before and I'd rather have him wear those instead of the old ones.

I am planning of getting him some new ones later on and I found a great site that specializes in ties. I love the designs that they have and I showed it to my husband and I was surprise that he actually love the idea of having some new ties. Maybe he is tired of the old ones too.

Oh well! Do you know any other website that specializes on tie? If you do, let me know.

Your everyday watch

Have you heard of Audemars Piguet? I try to search for it online and I found this information.

"Audemars Piguet began in 1875 when Jules Audemars, then 23, and Edward-August Piguet, 21, met in the Valle de Jous looking for jobs in the local watchmaking industry. Audemars was the watchmaker in charge of production, and Piguet took charge of sales and marketing. Successful from the beginning, the Audemars Piguet trademark was registered in 1882, and the firm was officially founded later in 1889. Today, Audemars Piguet is the oldest Manufacture still owned and operated by its founding families.

In 1972, the company made the daring choice to launch the world's first high-end sports watches in steel: the Royal Oak.

Audemars Piguet's history is marked with many landmark records and world firsts-- the first wristwatch with tourbillon and mechanical winding, the smallest self-winding watch with perpetual calendar, the Dual Time, the Ladies Minute Repeater Chiming watch, to name a few.

In addition, only Audemars Piguet makes and sells all twelve of these complex timepieces--Chronographs, tourbillon regulators, chiming repeaters, time-zone displays, the Star Wheel mechanism, the equation of time and the sun's race through the heavens, a large-date calendar, power-reserve and moon-phase indicators, annual and perpetual calendars, and the intricate Grande Complicat."

Sometimes I am amazed at how much information you can find online. The possibilities are endless. Even information such as this won't be able to escape online. But I am glad though that with just a click away I can find the information that I am looking for.

And since I found the site of this company, I went ahead and did some browsing over the different designs that they have and I found this lovely watch "Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars 3120 Classic. " I just love the design of this watch. My husband is not really into formal type of watch but I can't take my eyes away from this design. I got him something similar to this design a few years ago and he is only wearing it whenever we got out or go somewhere. But as far as wearing it as an everyday watch he is not using it. What I really want is for him to wear something that he can use as an everyday watch. Hopefully he will find something that he can use.

What Makes You Tick?

What makes you an ethical person? Were you born that way or was it something that you learned? In approaching an ethical dilemma, do you weigh the benefits versus the consequences or do you approach it from a black and white, moralistic point of view? At the most foundational level of your ethics and character, the question is: What makes you tick?

Did you suddenly decide that discrimination was wrong because you took a diversity-training course? Absolutely not! You already knew that it was morally wrong and unfair to treat people differently. Did you suddenly decide that theft was wrong after watching a training video? Of course not! You've always known that stealing is wrong. These are no-brainers. The reason you don't harass coworkers is because you know that these behaviors are morally and ethically wrong. But how did you know they were wrong before the training video told you? Where did your natural sense of ethics come from? Is it still there?

What makes the racist, thief, or harasser different is that they have either lost their internal sense of appropriate moral and ethical behavior or they've rejected it all together. Assuming that you haven't rejected it, the question remains: What makes you ethical? The reason you need to ask yourself this is because having a properly functioning moral compass requires you to get your core values straightened out.

Having a sense of intrinsic honesty helps you judge ethical dilemmas not by emotion or circumstance but by core values. This is important because you might be an ethically challenged person, who needs to get grounded, or you may be someone who's got your act together but needs a little extra support during a tough situation. Either way, you need to take some time to ask yourself "why do you do what you." Your goal should be to have a natural, intrinsic sense of ethics that can be relied upon in times of trouble and chaos.

Of course, once you've dug deep by asking, "Why do I do what I do?" then you've got to deal with the stuff that comes to the surface. Your soul-searching may produce more questions than answers. You may answer, "I don't know" or you may find so many past mistakes that you question your ability to be ethical at all. The purpose is not to live in the past but to find a starting point to move into the future. In order to move forward, you must shore up your core values so you can build character and an intrinsic sense of honesty.

Intrinsic honesty is not just for the saints but is for everyone. You have to want it and you have to choose it. With intrinsic honesty in play, the ethics training you receive at work will mean something. Ethics will become more than minimally following the rules or staying out of trouble. It will be a natural byproduct of your everyday life. It will happen seamlessly as a result of your showing up for work and doing what you normally do.

If you want to become intrinsically honest, you can't spend too much time sitting on the fence. You have to ask probing questions and then get off the fence in order to have ethical decisiveness. This doesn't mean that you act morally superior to others. On the contrary, getting off the moral fence and taking a stand should be a positive contribution to the work environment and not a negative one. For the most part, your effects on others are indirect. The primary focus of change will be you.

But what if nobody listens or nobody cares? What about a workplace where dishonesty is rampant? You might work in a place where dishonesty is commonplace or have supervisors who lie or pressure employees to behave unethically. Although you should do everything in your power to restore an ethical work environment, you mustn't hop back on the fence or go backward ethically. Oil and water don't mix. There comes a time when you need to separate yourself from the environment and find a place that supports your good ethical values.

So, it gets down to nature or nurture. Or does it? Seeing where you've come from is just as important as knowing where you're going. By understanding what makes you tick, you are setting the stage for new levels of personal growth. Getting to a place where your ethical decision-making is an automatic function of your character is a good place to be. Your employer's ethics training can be effective in laying down ethical workplace standards but the training shouldn't be anything different from the basic ethical principles you've believed in all along.

Riding Horses

A few months ago, I blog about the play horse that I bought my daughter for $13.00 I believe. It was used one from a resale store in my area and the money I pay for it was so worth it. Until now my little girl is still loving and enjoying the toy that I got for her. Not to mention that whenever she rides the horse she usually ask for the cowboy hat that my husband bought, then she will ask for my gloves. The only thing that she needs is an english saddles to finish up her gear. She even have that "yehaaa!" sounds that she makes whenever she is playing with it.

I wont be too surprise if later on she will start some hobbies that involves horses. That's not too bad either because she can learn to be an equestrian. I am just thinking out loud here, but it's not really bad.

I don't think that it will be that expensive. I found this site called the TheEquestrianCorner.com and the prices of the equestrian accessories are not too bad. But let's just see what will happen in the next coming years.

Rehabiliation and Detoxication Place

Do you remember the name of the rehabilitation center where a lot of the actors and actresses go to in order to do get help, specially if they are using drugs or they have a drinking issue? I think its called Promises Treatment Center.

The name sounds promising and based on the information that they have on the site, they are providing a supervised alcohol and heroin detox (drug detox). The place was founded by Richard Rogg last 20 years ago. And that time his vision was to provide the best treatment and environment for people who are alcoholics and addicted to drugs.

They also offer the following services:

* Alcoholism
* Cocaine Addiction
* Oxycontin Addiction (Oxycodone)
* Heroin Addiction
* Meth Addiction (Methamphetamines)
* Propoxyphene Addiction
* Barbiturates Addiction
* Vicodin Addiction (Hydrocodone)
* Codeine Addiction
* Benzodiazepine Addiction
* Detox -- General

The facility also offers comprehensive treatment services to make sure that patients received the level of care based on their needs. One of their major objectives is to provide what patients need when they need it.

So if you are looking for a place to help your family out or you, this is good place to start with.

Still Cold

Yup it is still freezing cold. It's not snowing or anything serious but its cold outside. My heater is crank up to 75 degrees and I am still wearing a jacket.

I guess I am just not used to being so cold and these past couple of days... well let me rephrase that... for the past couple of weeks.. its been freezing cold.

I have been waiting for the weather to change so I can clean the yard or at least the front of the house but the weather hasn't change a bit. I saw some of my neighbor already started trimming some of their plants getting ready for spring and with us, I haven't even remove the leaves from my flower bed. A lot of my plants are dead.. well maybe they are hibernating.

I am just hoping that in the next coming week it will not be as cold as this. But, this is definitely better than summer.

Custom Plastic Card

One of the things that I like about these days is that you can customized everything. Anything that you like to customized you can do it these days.

One example is a signature card or a membership card. I have been thinking of having one customized for the members of the social community I have created so every member will get one. I have been trying to think of some tokens and I think the membership card is much better than getting a token. I can even have it customized so it will reflect the color and designs that will fit the members and the organization.

I found different designs that I really like and I can even have the company encode some magnetic stripes, personalized it by embossing sequential numbers, barcodes, names or scratch off panel. And here's the good part. If I need a mailing solution, this company can can matched the design of the personalized letter.

I think that's pretty amazing. Don't you think so? I just have to get a quote of how much will be the cost and then choose the design. I can't wait to find out the details.

Amusement Park Holiday Sale

Holiday is over but I am still blogging about holiday sale. I know. But I can't help myself but to blog about this great holiday sale by o Morey’s Piers and their Jersey Shore beach vacation. Who can pass up on deals like this?

If you are in New Jersey or will be planning of going to New Jersey for your next vacation I suggest that you check out Wildwood Amusement Park. Different season passes are now available for a discounted price. Recently, Morey's Pier announces its annual holiday sale. The sale will run from December 1 through January 9. There's still a couple more days to go before the end of the holiday sale. Why not take this chance and make your next vacation something to remember with. On their website you can also find hotels and motels deals for your vacation.

I remember when one of my friend had their vacation in new Jersey. I told her that there's plenty of fun things to do in New Jersey and that the opportunities to enjoy their family vacation are endless. They had a great time specially with the different water parks that they visited. When she sent me the photos of their family vacation I was so jealous of it. I wish we had enough budget so we can do it next time. But since I found out about this annual sale, I think I am going to go ahead and check it out.

What about you, where are you going to do your next vacation? If you haven't decided you, why not head out to Morey's Pier.

It's Icy Cold On My Part of Town

It's freezing cold outside. The trees are icy cold and we can't get out of the house. It's only in Texas where the temperature changes drastically. And if you live in Texas and you are not yet used to the sudden change of weather, well you better be by now.

I went to bed this morning after waking up in the middle of the night, I got up and saw that my husband was still watching TV. So I went online and do some blogging for a little bit to make myself sleepy again. Didn't happen. I ended up posting 3 blog posts, sending messages to members on the my social community. Checking my e-mail and checking some other things. So much for making myself sleepy. I ended up going to bed at 6am. When everybody was already waking up, I was just going to bed.

I got up between 11-12noon and it was freezing outside. The trees are icy cold. The field behind our house looks all white and my neighbors fence has some ice on it. Heater is set to 75 degrees Farenheit and I am still cold. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. What about you, what's the weather in your part of town?

Need A Better Light

I was in the kitchen this early evening doing some stuff online and my husband notice that I was trying to squint my eyes looking at the screen of my laptop. And he told me to turn on the light so I can see better. I told him that I don't want to use the light in the kitchen because it's too bright. And so we got into talking about putting a wall sconce in the dining area so we can have a better lighting.

Although he was saying that it's going to be difficult because of the wiring and the set up of the kitchen, I still think we need to add some sconce on our wall. I found some lovely Quoizel lighting online that I really like and I think it will create a better ambiance and mood on our dining area. Plus we don't have to use the chandelier all the time and get's blinded with the bring lights on it. I still haven't had a chance to shop around for some chandelier shades. I have been wanting to do that since we move to the house almost 3 years ago. There's just to many things that we wanted to do in our house that we don't even know where to start.

The photo that I have on this post is the one that I really like. It will go perfectly with the color scheme that we have in our house. Plus I like the rustic feel to it and the design is made up of Imperial Bronze. It will definitely give my home an extra charm.

The website that I found this design is called LightingShowplace.com and they really specializes on lighting so the design are exquisite. This particular design cost $118.00 with free shipping. And if your order is worth $250.00 they have an option this program called Bill Me Later, which takes 90 days to pay. Not a bad idea specially if you think that it will be a little to much for your budget.

New Job, New Look

New year, new look , new job.

It's a new year and my husband has a new job. It doesn't pay as much as the previous one but it is definitely better than nothing. It's something that we can use to survive while he is looking for something better. Hopefully in the next coming month the much better one will arrive. And with the new job, it also comes with a new look. With his previous work he is under the sun and sweating all the time. He usually just wear jeans and the uniform being provided by the company. With his new job he looks much nicer and well groomed, not to mention really good looking.

However, with the new job it requires more effort when it comes to his uniform because he is wearing a tuxedo. Yup, that formal. So now, not only that we have to go to the cleaner for his suit, I also have to do some ironing of his clothes. Although not all the time, he does the ironing sometimes.

All of the uniforms are provided by the company which is a good thing so we don't have to spend a dime to get any suit. Although I wouldn't mind doing the shopping part. I can either do it online or to a shop that does custom fitting. There's a site online called FormalTux.com that specializes on formal wear and they really have a great selection of suit that would look good on my husband.

With that being said, I think I am going to take some photo's of him and post it here.

Online Courses

2 1/2 more weeks and school will start again. I feel like I haven't even recuperate from the last semester and here it is again. Another long semester. I am hoping that this semester it will be a little different. Hopefully, I will be more enthusiastic about the subjects and hopefully the professor I got are more of the hands on type so I can learn something.

I was also looking at some accredited online universities the other day for I am seriously wanting to just do my LVN right now so I can help my husband and then just do the ADN program after. I found a site called Elearners.com and its a site where you can search for online courses, online colleges, campus programs, online degrees, etc. They offer different ways in order to find the one that you are looking for.

For example you want to search for an online degree, you can do it in 5 ways:

1. Using the search area. Type in the degree that you are looking for and search for it.
2. You can view online degree by subject and interest.
3. You can browse by degree level.
4. You can see online colleges by name.
5. You can also do a campus program search.

So it really gives me a lot of options to choose from. The site also offers forums and blogs that offers interactive discussions. Nowadays, it is easier to look for an accredited online university because of our technology. So finding one that I can use later on is not going to be an issue. But I am still crossing my finger hoping to get into the program.

New Year, New Look

If you are a frequent visitor on my blog, you probably noticed that I have a new design. Yes! Finally, I am done with my new designs. If this is your first time, then welcome and hope the design is pleasing. I decided to redo the design of my blog since it's another year. Although there has been a lot of compliment for my old design, I just wanted a new look.

The old design was a bit dark so this time I am using a lighter shades.... white. What could be more lighter than white. But, seriously... I am hoping that with my new design the look of my blog will be more unique. I have been seeing a lot of blog designs that are using the sidebar on the right so moving it to the left is a change. Then I also added the 3 column below the header. When I started using the 3 column with the 2 sidebar to the right, there wasn't a whole lot of bloggers who are using that design but later on I been seeing a lot so it's time for a change.

I have been using the 3 column below the header for a while now on Vhiel's Corner and I really like how I can highlight important things on my blog or make some announcements using it. I might also disable the right click on this blog just so I can protect my code from people who want to copy my design. It get's a little frustrating when I see my layout being stolen. But, I may not do that either because its easier to navigate if the right click is not disabled. So I might just leave it alone.

To give you a preview of the old design, check below. I hope you like my new designs. Don't forget to leave me a comment. I love to hear your comments about the new design. If you want to get a blog makeover to give you niche a different feel and look, check out my designer site: Designs By Vhiel.
