Some of the things I've learned...

Some of the things that I've learned when I move here in the US is that credit history is one of the important thing that you have to protect. Back in the Philippines I am not really sure if the credit history is being track down. As far as I know, as long as you have a stable and tenure job and you are making a good income, at the same time you can make the down payment then that's good enough. But over here in the US, having an excellent credit will actually give you a lot of chance in order to make a loan.

I realized this when it was time to buy a new car. And it was so hard to get a loan with a low interest rate because my husband credit history was bad... as in really bad. And I can't help him since I don't have any credit history yet. Not even a single credit card in my name. And since his credit history was... let's just say something that you would not dream of having, we have to take a loan for an interest rate of about 15%. So we were paying for a vehicle that is breaking us financially because of the rate but in a way, it was helping my husband's credit history because I was the one managing the payment and I never let is slide to make sure we can build a good payment history for it.

Then after a while, when it was time to purchase our house, it was still very difficult since I don;t really have any loan under my name, just a few credit cards that I was maintaining just so I can have a credit history. Good thing that realtor that we have that time was good with debt consolidation. He helps us eliminate some of the information from my husband's credit history. And it really helps us. So when it was time to get rid of the high paying rate vehicle, we were able to get a car loan for as low as 5% rate. Imagine from a 15% to a 5%.

I guess it really pays a lot when you are paying your bills on time and managing your money well.

Beach Vacation House

A couple of days ago we were over at my sister's house and one of our cousin has sent her an e-mail and was just saying hi. Apparently she now lives in Germany with her husband and 1 little boy. I guess my sister ask her about life in general and mentions about the house that they bought somewhere in Batangas (souther part of Luzon in the Philippines) and me and my sister got into talking about buying a vacation house. And how nice it would be to have one so when we go home we don't have to check in a hotel.

Maybe in the future we can have a beach vacation rentals. I have a friend and we have been talking about starting a beach resort. I just love the idea of having a beach house. Not only that you are so close to the ocean, the openness of the scenery is just something else.

Although there's a bad part about having a beach front house. If there is a storm and the water level is bad then it might just swift the house away. Okay, I am being negative again. But the thought of having one is not really a bad idea.

Boyle's Got Talent

"American Idol" isn't the only launching pad for aspiring singers. Across the pond, "Britain's Got Talent" scored a huge boost in the Buzz after an unassuming contestant gave an amazing performance.

Susan Boyle (remember that name) became a Web phenomenon after singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables. The performance brought the audience to its feet and left the judges (including Simon Cowell) either speechless or in tears.

Before going on stage, Ms. Boyle admitted some self-deprecating facts about herself (she's never been kissed and lives alone with her cat, Pebbles). For those reasons and more, audiences were expecting the female William Hung. They were wrong.

Lookups on the sudden star posted huge gains. A no-name just the other day, Ms. Boyle quickly surged into our top 5,000 overall searches. Blogs and gossip rags went wild. The Mirror jumped on the story, reporting that while Ms. Boyle thought she "looked like a garage" on TV, she received a standing ovation when she showed up at her local church.

Other sources write that as a child, Ms. Boyle was the target of bullies because of a disability. But, with her newfound fame, she is getting the last laugh. In fact, she's already meeting with officials from Mr. Cowell's Sony BMG label. This may have been the first you've heard of her, but it certainly won't be the last.

Getting addicted to prescription drugs

The topic in my Psychology class today was interesting that a lot of my classmates are amazed and even myself. The topic started with the question "How can money influence us as a "drug?" Previously, we had watch the episode of "The Office -Money" and today we are going to talk about it and relate it of course with real life. But there are times that the class gets a little side tract and there's some topic that gets injected with the discussion. But so far this drug issue was still on the discussion.

Just to give you a little bit of information about my class, most of the students are going into nursing and some are in Psychology major but majority are in the nursing field. So the discussion about nursing career and money went on for a while and then we got into the topic of drugs... and two of my classmate were going over the drugs that they were taking in order to keep them in normal mood.

For somebody who is not taking any medicine you will be shock as to how many types of drugs these two person are taking. The girl on my side was telling us about a drug that she was taking and after she took the drug she didn't sleep for almost 4 days. My professor ask if she was diagnosed with something related to psychiatric issue in order to take the drugs and she said that she just went to her family doctor and told the doctor that all her friends were taking the drug and is helping them focus in school. So she wants to take it too. Now I am not really sure if she is telling us the truth or that she is in drugs (probably) that's why she said that. During the discussion one student event pointed out a appetite suppressant which I cannot remember the name is, but it got into the topic. I guess due to the fact that one topic was drug, so it got injected to the discussion.

Does my class seems to be a little crazy? I think it is.

But the thing about this is that, I cannot believe how many medicines these two women are taking. For somebody like me who absolutely hates taking any medicine and not in any type of medicine, I am already getting dizzy as to how much medicine they are taking just to go on with their normal life. Oh and take note, these women are much much younger than I am... probably in their early 20's.
