I think we are all looking for something to cure whatever problem or issues that we have. May it be physical, emotional or even spiritual. Nowadays, you can almost find solutions for everything.
Well, let me take that back. Not everything, but almost. Poverty is still something that needs some solution and I don't think that in my lifetime it will go away. It will always be here. Health problems is another issue that just keeps evolving.
This just reminds me that I have to write a white paper about Vibrio Cholerae, the bacteria that causes cholera and I absolutely have no idea how to start my paper or how to write it.
We were given some information as how to write it but I don't think its really enough. I have never written one, so it's really confusing for me. It would have been nice if we can just write a paper about the topic and not come up with our own topic based on the bacteria.
Oh well, I guess I better start scrambling my head on what to write, otherwise I will end up with nothing at all. This will actually count as an exam so I am all stressed out.
So my thing right now is I am looking for a solution to my white paper.

Something new to learn everyday
This semester I am taking Nutrition for my online class and when I register for it, I was expecting a little bit different information that I am getting right now. I was thinking that it will be less of the science but I was wrong. So far I have read up to chapter 6 and the last topic I've read was about fatty acid. I even learned something new, conjugated linoleic acid(CLA).
According to the information I've read CLA were discovered accidentally by researchers looking for mutagens in beef. Found specially in meat and dairy products derived from ruminants.
When I tried to search for this particular topic online I've found an article at Wikipedia which states that:
"CLA is also known for its body weight management properties, which include reducing body fat and increasing lean muscle mass. Over 30 clinical studies have been published investigating the effect of CLA on weight management. The trials have quite variable designs, which leads to inconsistency. However a meta-analysis conducted in 2007 clearly shows that CLA does indeed have a small impact on fat mass.
Although CLA is best known for its anti-cancer properties, researchers have also found that the cis-9, trans-11 form of CLA can reduce the risk for cardiovascular disease and help fight inflammation".
There's always something new that we can learn just by reading. And I can honestly say that having this information makes me want to keep reading my books.

Health Check
Is there such a thing as male menopause? Well, before I started taking science classes I didn't really bother about stuff like this. Well for once it doesn't have anything to do with me but I guess the more you learn stuff the more that you want to educate yourself. Maybe it's just me but as I grow older and so as my husband eventually we are going to get to that point of menopause. So early as now, I want to know more about them and hopefully me and my husband can prepare ourselves when we get to that part.
However, for this part of my post it will be more about natural testosterone and what happens when the body does not produce enough.
The ability to produce testosterone declines as men gets older. Although low production can also happens during the early stages. If the level of testosterone falls below the normal range it will include symptoms such as:
And of course the good news is that the condition is treatable.

Change of scenery
A few of my previous post I was talking about moving to another state. And lately I have been thinking about it more and more. This afternoon I was telling my husband that maybe he can look for work on another state. But when he asked me what state would I like to move to, I didn't actually have anything in mind. I didn't get that far... well the state anyway.
Really, I'm not sure where. Although I did mention Georgia but tonight I was browsing and saw this beautiful picture. It's actually from Saint Louis real estate and it sort of remind me the first time I saw the pretty colors of the trees in Kentucky. The yellows and browns, greens and pinks. It's just mesmerizing.
So aside from Georgia the next place I love to check out is Saint Louis.

Need a new computer... again
Lately I have been having issues with my laptop monitor. Whenever I am playing online my monitor just crash. And then the whole computer. It has been doing this more and more now and I can't figure out what is going on with my computer. Now I have Vista for my OS and I was thinking that maybe this is one of the bug from Vista. But then again, it only happens whenever I am playing a game online. I keep forgetting to tell my husband about it so he can check my laptop.
It's one of the bad thing with technology, electronics has to be updated all the time in order for it to function well. And it gets a little expensive to keep buying new computer all the time. I think I had this laptop for a just a year. Although I do want to upgrade and get a different design and perhaps more memory and hard drive space. Although what I have now is alright it won't hurt to have just a little more memory and hard drive space. I was looking at a netbooks online and I found a few that have great features and affordable. Although I still have to check out if they have the designs I like as well as the specifications.

Which Ipod are you?
Have you heard of the new iPod Nano? I haven't really seen it yet but I have a few friends that has been talking about it and it made me curious.So the good old search engine comes handy all the time. Search for ipods and this is what I found out.

It does sounds amazing. Another good thing about it is that it has the same multi touch screen technology as the iPhone. Zoom in your photo, scroll through your songs and a flip to the artwork library. It has a 80GB or 160GB of storage and can last up to 40 hours etc.
I don't have an iPod so I can't really take advantage of these features, but for those who have one don't forget to share your insights about these new iPod.

Have you ever wonder if you are paying too much for your home, car, medical etc insurance. I was so used to not having to pay for car insurance when I was in the Philippines. The thing is, I don't have any vehicle there. I don't need one. I can go anywhere, anytime I want without one.
But now, I have to pay insurance. It's a must! Otherwise, there's a big problem. Although, there are times that I can't help but think that why do we keep paying if we are not even using them. I mean, we never had any vehicle problem or accident and it would really be nice if we can have sort of a break from paying all of these bills. Specially for us folks who are barely making it with our day to day lives.
I mean I don't mind paying, specially if we get to the part when we are going to use this insurance, but if you are a good driver and you never had to use your insurance, it feels like you are being robbed.
But, that's just me. My husband feels the same way. It's one of our commonality. Since we can't get away with paying our insurance, everybody has to pay one, I would suggest that you try to find the lowest possible payment with the best return that you can get. Try using websites where you can compare how much you have to pay and offers free insurance quotes. This will make your looking much, much easier and less stressful.

What a mess!
Have you ever encounter something in your house and that something feels like it's never going to get fix or be done anymore?
Like for example your having a renovation for your house and it feels like it's never going to get finish. Well, we have this problem in our backyard that is really getting into me now. We have a open field behind our house and everytime it rains, our backyard are getting a lot of water. And there are times that there's so much water specially when the rain is non stop the water almost gets to the side of the doorway. And since we been getting a lot of rain these days and during spring, its not helping our foundation either.
I would do whatever to protect our home from such, but we can only do so much when we don't have enough budget right. The last time it rains, I was outside in the cold trying to get as much water from the backyard to drain. I have to call my husband at work so he can go home and do something. We have to do some kind of sandbag just to make sure the rain will not get inside the house. We just replaced our carpet and this is not going to ruin our home.
So I was outside in the cold and I don't have any boots on, just a pair of slippers and my feet were all soaked and frozen under the water. It was cold! I think what made it worse was the unfinished work stuff in our backyard. And I think it made it worst. We were trying to make the add more soil close to the house to make it higher than the field and our neighbor so the water will go to the other direction but the soil was to wet to work on... so our backyard literally looks like a somebody has been playing dirt bike. If that's even the right term for that.
I find it funny though because I was using some steel bar clamps to get some debris. I was panicking and I can't find the shovel or at least the rake to use it. And the first thing I grab on was the clamp. The next time I post about this problem that we have, I'll take a picture and post it as well. It's really a mess.
