It's this whole looooong story, but in a nutshell I have pretty straight teeth but my bite has changed due to clenching/grinding for years and because I ground a bit of my molars down which changed my bite a little. I have one Ortho telling me to do reg braces and a bunch saying Invisalign. I'm hoping to do Invisalign as I think there are a lot more benefits. The best advice I can give is to get a couple diff opinions, find out the pro's and con's for your situation, check prices (as dentists/orths mark up the price) and take time to think about it!
